Indeed, the area surrounding the beach is dotted with bunkers and ruins dating back to World War II and ancient tombs dating back to the Greek period. But the Pillirina<\/strong> is not only history and nature; it is also legend. His name is in fact linked to a young woman, the Pilgrim<\/strong>, who had found love with a fisherman. Every night the two lovers met in the Punta della Mola Cave<\/strong>, a natural cleft between rocks overlooking the sea. One night the fisherman, due to a storm, was unable to return to shore, and the Pilgrim, who had been waiting for a long time, decided to take his own life by throwing himself into the sea. From then on, the cave took the name Pillirina Cave, in honor of this young woman’s ill-fated love.<\/p>\n
