The European electronic music festival scene is being disrupted by the arrival of the new OSS (Open Sound System), an event that has already generated great anticipation thanks to a series of side events held in Catania, Palermo and Milan. This ambitious project aims to position itself as one of the leading festivals in the genre, presenting a selection of artists who represent the current state of health of electronic music.

The OSS billboard is a fascinating journey through the world’s diverse sound cultures, uniting sounds from every corner of the planet. France’s Acid Arab bring Middle Eastern electronica, mixing traditional rhythms with contemporary sounds. Colombian musician Lucrecia Dalt offers unique sound experiments, while Spain’s Marina Herlop enchants the audience with her hypnotic avant pop. Brazilian Badisista adds engaging rhythms to the mix, while Indian pianist Arushi Jain ‘s dreamlike atmosphere transports listeners to a world of wonder.

The list of artists continues with a number of equally eclectic names. DJ Plead arrives from Melbourne, bringing his unique and engaging style. Brits Joy Orbison and Kode9 offer the best of the British electronic scene, while HHY & The Kampala Unit from Uganda and BCUC from South Africa bring innovative rhythms and surprising sounds.

Another novelty that makes this edition of the OSS even more interesting is the introduction of a new location, the Teatro Massimo in Syracuse. Located in Ortigia, this fascinating theater joins the main stage and afters at the former KM0, expanding the possibilities for exploring and experiencing the event in a unique setting.

But the surprises do not end there. The OSS also announced the artists-in-residence for this edition: talented Italian percussionist Valentina Magaletti and Portuguese producer Nídia. This collaboration promises to bring additional creative and innovative elements to the event, offering audiences unique musical experiences.

With its eclectic lineup and the addition of new venues, OSS stands as one of the most interesting festivals in the European electronic music scene. The choice of sought-after artists from around the world testifies to the event’s commitment to reflecting gender diversity and evolution. All that remains is to prepare for an exciting and engaging journey through the sounds and cultures of the world at OSS, the festival that is set to leave an indelible mark on the history of electronic music.
