Because of its clear water and gentle current, the river is an ideal place to practice this activity. Canoes are available for rental within the Reserve.

The Reserve also organizes guided tours with expert ornithologists for bird watchers numerous opportunities to observe birds nesting in the area. Numerous bird species can be spotted here, including herons, pink flamingos and numerous birds of prey. The Fiume Ciane and Saline Reserve of Syracuse is located just a few kilometers from Catania Airport, Sicily’s main airport. From the airport you can reach the Reserve in a short time, either by car or bus. For those who want to visit the Reserve by car, free parking is available within the Reserve parking lot. The parking lot is guarded and is a short walk from the main entrance to the Reserve.

Ortigia is a must-see destination for those visiting Syracuse, with its picturesque narrow streets, Baroque churches, and local markets. It also offers a very special story.
